Measurement of 𝐶𝑃 asymmetries in Λ0𝑏 →𝑝ℎ− decays
2025 · ARTICLE · en
A search for 𝐶𝑃 violation in Λ0𝑏 →𝑝𝐾− and Λ0𝑏 →𝑝𝜋− decays is presented using the full Run 1 and Run 2 data samples of 𝑝𝑝 collisions collected with the LHCb detector, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb−1 at center-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13 TeV. For the Run 2 data sample, the 𝐶𝑃-violating asymmetries are measured to be 𝐴𝑝𝐾−𝐶𝑃 =(−1.4 ±0.7 ±0.4)% and 𝐴𝑝𝜋−𝐶𝑃 =(0.4 ±0.9 ±0.4)%, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. Following significant improvements in the evaluation of systematic uncertainties compared to the previous LHCb measurement, the Run 1 dataset is reanalyzed to update the corresponding results. When combining the Run 2 and updated Run 1 measurements, the final results are found to be 𝐴𝑝𝐾−𝐶𝑃 =(−1.1 ±0.7 ±0.4)% and 𝐴𝑝𝜋−𝐶𝑃 =(0.2 ±0.8 ±0.4)%, constituting the most precise measurements of these asymmetries to date.
Test of Lepton Flavor Universality with 𝐵+→𝐾+𝜋+𝜋−ℓ+ℓ− Decays
2025 · ARTICLE · en
The first test of lepton flavor universality between muons and electrons using 𝐵+→𝐾+𝜋+𝜋−ℓ+ℓ− (ℓ =𝑒, 𝜇) decays is presented. The measurement is performed with data from proton-proton collisions collected by the LHCb experiment at center-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb−1. The ratio of branching fractions between 𝐵+→𝐾+𝜋+𝜋−𝑒+𝑒− and 𝐵+→𝐾+𝜋+𝜋−𝜇+𝜇− decays is measured in the dilepton invariant-mass-squared range 1.1
Search for 𝐷0 meson decays to 𝜋+𝜋−𝑒+𝑒− and 𝐾+𝐾−𝑒+𝑒− final states
2025 · ARTICLE · en
A search for 𝐷0 meson decays to the 𝜋+𝜋−𝑒+𝑒− and 𝐾+𝐾−𝑒+𝑒− final states is reported using a sample of proton-proton collisions collected by the LHCb experiment at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 6 fb−1. The decay 𝐷0 →𝜋+𝜋−𝑒+𝑒− is observed for the first time when requiring that the two electrons are consistent with coming from the decay of a 𝜙 or 𝜌0/𝜔 meson. The corresponding branching fractions are measured relative to the 𝐷0 →𝐾−𝜋−[𝑒+𝑒−]𝜌0/𝜔 decay, where the two electrons are consistent with coming from the decay of a 𝜌0 or 𝜔 meson. No evidence is found for the 𝐷0 →𝐾+𝐾−𝑒+𝑒− decay and world-best limits are set on its branching fraction. The results are compared to, and found to be consistent with, the branching fractions of the 𝐷0 →𝜋+𝜋−𝜇+𝜇− and 𝐷0 →𝐾+𝐾−𝜇+𝜇− decays recently measured by LHCb and confirm lepton universality at the current precision.
Observation of the Open-Charm Tetraquark Candidate 𝑇*𝑐𝑠0(2870)0 in the 𝐵−→𝐷−𝐷0𝐾0 𝑆 Decay
2025 · ARTICLE · en
An amplitude analysis of 𝐵−→𝐷−𝐷0𝐾0𝑆 decays is performed using proton-proton collision data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb−1, collected with the LHCb detector at center-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13 TeV. A resonant structure of spin-parity 0+ is observed in the 𝐷0𝐾0𝑆 invariant-mass spectrum with a significance of 5.3𝜎. The mass and width of the state, modeled with a Breit-Wigner line shape, are determined to be 2883±11±8 MeV/𝑐2 and 87+22−47 ±17 MeV, respectively, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. These properties and the quark content are consistent with those of the open-charm tetraquark candidate 𝑇*𝑐𝑠0(2870)0 observed previously in the 𝐷+𝐾− final state of the 𝐵−→𝐷−𝐷+𝐾− decay. This result confirms the existence of the 𝑇*𝑐𝑠0(2870)0 state in a new decay mode. The 𝑇*𝑐𝑠1(2900)0 state, reported in the 𝐵−→𝐷−𝐷+𝐾− decay, is also searched for in the 𝐷0𝐾0𝑆 invariant-mass spectrum of the 𝐵− →𝐷−𝐷0𝐾0𝑆 decay, without finding evidence for it.
Study of Λ0𝑏 and Ξ0𝑏 Decays to Λℎ+ℎ′− and Evidence for 𝐶𝑃 Violation in Λ0𝑏→Λ𝐾+𝐾− Decays
2025 · ARTICLE · en
A study of Λ0𝑏 and Ξ0𝑏 decays to Λℎ+ℎ′− (ℎ(′)=𝜋,𝐾) is performed using 𝑝𝑝 collision data collected by the LHCb experiment during LHC Runs 1–2, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb−1. The branching fractions for these decays are measured using the Λ0𝑏→Λ+𝑐(→Λ𝜋+)𝜋− decay as a control channel. The decays Λ0𝑏 →Λ𝜋+𝜋− and Ξ0𝑏 →Λ𝐾−𝜋+ are observed for the first time. For decay modes with sufficient signal yields, 𝐶𝑃 asymmetries are measured in the full and localized regions of the final-state phase space. Evidence is found for 𝐶𝑃 violation in the Λ0𝑏 →Λ𝐾+𝐾− decay, interpreted as originating primarily from an asymmetric Λ0𝑏 →𝑁*+𝐾− decay amplitude. The measured 𝐶𝑃 asymmetries for other decays are compatible with zero.
First Evidence for Direct 𝐶𝑃 Violation in Beauty to Charmonium Decays
2025 · ARTICLE · en
The 𝐶𝑃 asymmetry and branching fraction of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa-suppressed decay 𝐵+ →𝐽/𝜓𝜋+ are precisely measured relative to the favored decay 𝐵+ →𝐽/𝜓𝐾+ using a sample of proton-proton collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.4 fb−1 recorded at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV during 2016–2018. The results of the 𝐶𝑃 asymmetry difference and branching fraction ratio are Δ𝒜𝐶𝑃≡𝒜𝐶𝑃(𝐵+→𝐽/𝜓𝜋+)−𝒜𝐶𝑃(𝐵+→𝐽/𝜓𝐾+)=(1.29±0.49±0.08)×10−2, ℛ𝜋/𝐾≡[ℬ(𝐵+→𝐽/𝜓𝜋+)/ℬ(𝐵+→𝐽/𝜓𝐾+)]=(3.852±0.022±0.018)×10−2, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. A combination with previous LHCb results based on data collected at 7 and 8 TeV in 2011 and 2012 yields Δ𝒜𝐶𝑃 =(1.42 ±0.43 ±0.08) ×10−2 and ℛ𝜋/𝐾 =(3.846 ±0.018 ±0.018) ×10−2. The combined Δ𝒜𝐶𝑃 value deviates from zero by 3.2 standard deviations, providing the first evidence for direct 𝐶𝑃 violation in the amplitudes of beauty decays to charmonium final states.
Constraints on the photon polarisation in b → sγ transitions using Bs → ϕe+e− decays
2025 · ARTICLE · en
An angular analysis of the → ϕe+e− decay is performed using the proton-proton collision dataset collected between 2011 and 2018 by the LHCb experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb−1 at centre-of-mass energies of 7, 8 and 13 TeV. The analysis is performed in the very low dielectron invariant mass-squared region between 0.0009 and 0.2615 GeV2/c4. The longitudinal polarisation fraction of the ϕ meson is measured to be less than 11.5% at 90% confidence level. The observable, which is related to the lepton forward-backward asymmetry, is measured to be 0.116 ± 0.155 ± 0.006, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. The transverse asymmetries, and , which are sensitive to the virtual photon polarisation, are found to be −0.045 ± 0.235 ± 0.014 and 0.002 ± 0.247 ± 0.016, respectively. The results are consistent with Standard Model predictions.
Measurement of ϕ(1020) meson production in fixed-target pNe collisions at sqrt(s) = 68.5 GeV
2025 · ARTICLE · en
The first measurement of ϕ(1020) meson production in fixed-target pNe collisions at = 68.5 GeV is presented. The ϕ(1020) mesons are reconstructed in their K+K− decay in a data sample consisting of proton collisions on neon nuclei at rest, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 21.7 ± 1.4 nb−1, collected by the LHCb detector at CERN. The ϕ(1020) production cross-section in the centre-of-mass rapidity range of −1.8 * 0 and transverse momentum range of 800 T 6500 MeV/c is found to be σ = 182.7 ± 2.7 (stat.) ± 14.1 (syst) μb/nucleon. A double-differential measurement of the cross-section is also provided in four regions of rapidity and six regions of transverse momentum of the ϕ(1020) meson and compared with the predictions from Pythia and EPOS4, which are found to underestimate the experimental values.
Measurement of the ψ(2S) to J/ψ cross-section ratio as a function of centrality in PbPb collisions at sqrt(s) = 5.02 TeV
2025 · ARTICLE · en
The ratio of prompt production cross-sections of ψ(2S) and J/ψ mesons in their dimuon final state is measured as a function of centrality, using data collected by the LHCb detector in PbPb collisions at = 5.02 TeV, for the first time in the forward rapidity region. The measured ratio shows no dependence on the collision centrality, and is compared to the latest theory predictions and to the recent measurements in literature.
Study of Ds1(2460)+→D+sπ+π− in B→D¯(∗)D+sπ+π− decays
2025 · ARTICLE · en
An amplitude analysis of the Ds1(2460)+→D+sπ+π− transition is performed simultaneously in B0→D−D+sπ+π−, B+→D¯0D+sπ+π−, and B0→D∗−D+sπ+π− decays. The study is based on a data sample of proton-proton collisions recorded with the LHCb detector at centre-of-mass energies of s√=7,8, and 13TeV, corresponding to a total integrated luminosity of 9fb−1. A clear double-peak structure is observed in the m(π+π−) spectrum of the Ds1(2460)+→D+sπ+π− decay. The data can be described either with a model including f0(500), f0(980) and f2(1270) resonances, in which the contributions of f0(980) and f2(1270) are unexpectedly large, or with a model including f0(500), a doubly charged open-charm tetraquark state T++cs¯ and its isospin partner T0cs¯. If the former is considered implausible, the Tcs¯ states are observed with high significance, and the data are consistent with isospin symmetry. When imposing isospin constraints between the two Tcs¯ states, their mass and width are determined to be 2327±13±13MeV and 96±16+170−23MeV, respectively, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. The mass is slightly below the DK threshold, and a spin-parity of 0+ is favoured with high significance.
