Developing E-Learning Courses in a Gaming Environment with an Integrated Assistant Bot for Secondary School Students

Currently, information technologies are mainly used in higher education. At the same time, there are problems in the process of teaching secondary school students. Therefore, it is necessary to offer technologies that would increase the effectiveness of the learning process. Given the popularity of the Minecraft game and the development of the use of the chatbot, it is proposed to integrate these technologies. The paper investigates the use of various information technologies by secondary school students. As a result, conclusions are drawn about the need for the development of information technologies. The development of electronic training courses with an integrated assistant bot for secondary school students of courses on the basics of digital circuitry and programming in Python is described. The behavior of the assistant bot during training and completing course tasks is described. It is assumed that such an approach will increase the involvement of students in the learning process and homework.

Chatbot to Increase the Effectiveness of the «Flipped Classroom» Technology

Many researchers believe that one of the most effective educational technologies is the «Flipped classroom». To evaluate the effectiveness of the «Flipped classroom» technology, own research was conducted. The research showed that there is a problem working with the material in non-auditorium conditions and some problems can be solved with the use of appropriate information technology. The work aims to develop a chatbot to increase the efficiency of the «Flipped classroom». The chatbot for Telegram was created. The chatbot, based on information from the database, conducts a dialogue with each student, periodically reminds him of the need to read the material, displays material and links to it, evaluates work with the material, issues test, and control questions to assess the comprehensibility of the material, saves work results, questions to the teacher in the database. Using the chatbot is aimed at increasing the student s involvement in the process of home preparation for the seminar. The data collected during the work with the bot, material, testing results, questions will allow the teacher to conclude that the students of the group are ready for the lesson. Due to the chatbot, the efficiency of «Flipped classroom» technology will increase.

Актуальным направлением для мониторинга окружающей среды является разработка и использование мобильных устройств, которые позволят упростить взаимодействие и повлиять на вовлеченность горожан в городские экологические процессы. Цель работы — выявление предпочтений использования жителями умного города потенциальных мобильных средств информирования о загрязнении воздуха, и связь этих предпочтений с экологическим поведением. В качестве таких средств выделены смссообщения, мессенджеры, социальные сети, чат-боты, мобильные приложения без и с push-уведомлениями.

Research of the Possibility of Using Educational Chatbots as a Learning Analytics Tool

Currently, one of the trends in education is the growth in the use of chatbots. To improve the efficiency of using chatbots, models are needed that will allow evaluating the effectiveness of a student's work with a chatbot and predicting the appearance of unsuccessful students who may have learning problems in the future. Currently, there are some methods of Learning Analytics for LMS e-learning systems that allow predicting the appearance of problem students. However, there are practically no Learning Analytics methods for educational chatbots. Therefore, an urgent task is to study the possibility of using educational chatbots as a tool for Learning Analytics. The work carried out a study that showed the possibility of using the results of working with a chatbot to predict the success of training. In this case, time indicators of work can be used as predictors. The study also showed that student behavior when interacting with a chatbot changes over time. At the initial stage, it can be classified as the behavior of a beginner, and further, as the behavior of an expert. At the same time, for each behavior, you need to create and use your own models that predict educational results.

Ensemble of Logistic Regression Models for Voice Settings of Virtual Pedagogical Agent

The use of virtual pedagogical agents in a digital learning environment can improve learning efficiency. To do this, when developing, it is necessary to consider and lay down the parameters that will affect the interaction between the agent and the student. The agent's voice is an important form of incarnation. Voice quality affects learning, perception, and trust. That is why it is so important to set voice parameters. Since each student has his characteristics, models are needed that consider such properties when setting voice parameters. However, such models are rare in the literature. The work aims to develop models for the voice settings of a virtual pedagogical agent that considers the individual properties of a particular student. Since an important parameter of speech is the tempo, which affects the comfort and convenience of listening, the tempo of the agent's speech is chosen as a dependent variable. As independent variables, indicators of the strength of the student's nervous system were used, which determine the course of neurodynamic and cognitive processes that affect the effectiveness of learning. An experiment was carried out, and based on the results of processing the data obtained, an ensemble of logistic regression models was built that determines the rate of speech according to the selected indicators of the strength of the nervous system.

Using Brain-Computer Interface for Measuring Indicators of Cognitive Processes (A Case of Doing Educational Reading)

Students’ cognitive processes while their learning activities strongly influence the effectiveness of education. The indicators of such processes can be determined using an electroencephalogram analysis and, as a consequence, the success of educational process as a whole can be predicted. For this analysis, alpha and beta rhythms are traditionally used. It may be of interest to use complex indicators, characterizing several rhythms, and alternative types of rhythm, for example, theta rhythm, to improve measurement accuracy. To make it possible to use theta rhythm and to assess the level of understanding and interest of the text viewed, the preliminary experiment was carried out. The results of the experiment demonstrate that the maximum value of the dominant frequency of theta rhythm was observed in case of uninteresting or unfamiliar reading. The effect of font size on the performance of cognitive processes was also studied.

Research of Urban Residents Involvement in Environmental Processes Using a Mobile Environmental Application

An use of mobile devices for environmental monitoring is relevant. Such a tool as a mobile application can simplify interaction and affect the involvement of urban residents in urban environmental processes. To solve the problem of rapid presentation of air pollution information is possible not only on the basis of a mobile application, but also using SMS messages, messengers or social networks, chatbots. At the same time, the mobile application can be implemented both with push notifications and without push notifications. Any of these decisions can report not only the excess of air pollution above a certain value, but also the current air pollution in the area of residence. Since any of these solutions is user-oriented, the actual task is to assess potential users preferences in a particular solution. The aim of the work is to identify the preferences of the use by the residents of the smart city of potential information tools for informing about urban air pollution and the connection of these preferences with environmental behavior. The results of the research will improve the quality of environmental information to residents of the smart city and environmental monitoring for different populations.

Development of models for forecasting and classification of a printing quality of a low cost 3D printer

At the present, the actual task is using 3D printers for the manufacture of certain objects with a given level of price / quality ratio. In many cases, it is economically feasible to use a low cost 3D printer. Therefore, it is necessary to have models that predict and classify the printing quality of such printers. The work has involved the development and assembly of a low cost 3D printer. For this purpose, the creation of geometric models of the component parts and the printer itself was carried out, and engineering calculations and optimization of the received designs were performed. It has been developed a printer control system. An experiment was conducted to produce cubes with different printing parameters on such printer. Based on regression analysis, linear and logistic regressions were constructed. Linear regression will allow to assess the quality level of the result depending on the printing parameters, and the logistic regression will allow to classify and predict the probability of manufacturing objects with a given quality level. The influence of each of the print parameters on the quality and result of the classification was analyzed.
