Search for prompt production of pentaquarks in charm hadron final states

A search for hidden-charm pentaquark states decaying to a range of Σ𝑐¯𝐷 and Λ+𝑐¯𝐷 final states, as well as doubly charmed pentaquark states to Σ𝑐𝐷 and Λ+𝑐𝐷, is made using samples of proton-proton collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.7 fb−1 recorded by the LHCb detector at √𝑠=13 TeV. Since no significant signals are found, upper limits are set on the pentaquark yields relative to that of the Λ+𝑐 baryon in the Λ+𝑐→𝑝𝐾−𝜋+ decay mode. The known pentaquark states are also investigated, and their signal yields are found to be consistent with zero in all cases.
Search for $B_s^0\to \mu^+\mu^- \gamma$ decay

A search for the fully reconstructed Bs0 → μ+μ−γ decay is performed at the LHCb experiment using proton-proton collisions at s = 13 TeV corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.4 fb−1. No significant signal is found and upper limits on the branching fraction in intervals of the dimuon mass are set B(Bs0→μ+μ−γ) at 95% confidence level. Additionally, upper limits are set on the branching fraction in the [2mμ, 1.70] GeV/c2 dimuon mass region excluding the contribution from the intermediate ϕ(1020) meson, and in the region combining all dimuon-mass intervals.
Amplitude analysis of the $\Lambda_b \to p K^- \gamma$ decay

The resonant structure of the radiative decay Λb0→pK−γ in the region of proton-kaon invariant-mass up to 2.5 GeV/c2 is studied using proton-proton collision data recorded at centre-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13 TeV collected with the LHCb detector, corresponding to a total integrated luminosity of 9 fb−1. Results are given in terms of fit and interference fractions between the different components contributing to this final state. Only Λ resonances decaying to pK− are found to be relevant, where the largest contributions stem from the Λ(1520), Λ(1600), Λ(1800), and Λ(1890) states.
First observation of the $\Lambda^0_b \to D^+D^- \Lambda$ decay

The Λb0 → D+D−Λ decay is observed for the first time using proton-proton collision data collected by the LHCb experiment at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.3 fb−1. Using the B0 → D+D−KS0 decay as a reference channel, the product of the relative production cross-section and decay branching fractions is measured to be R=σΛb0σB0=B(Λb0→D+D−Λ)B(B0→D+D−KS0)=0.179±0.022±0.014, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. The known branching fraction of the reference channel, B(B0→D+D−KS0), and the cross-section ratio, σΛb0/σB0, previously measured by LHCb are used to derive the branching fraction of the Λb0 → D+D−Λ decay B(Λb0→D+D−Λ)=(1.24±0.15±0.10±0.28±0.11)×10−4, where the third and fourth contributions are due to uncertainties of B(B0→D+D−KS0) and σΛb0/σB0, respectively. Inspection of the D+Λ and D+D− invariant-mass distributions suggests a rich presence of intermediate resonances in the decay. The Λb0 → D*+D−Λ decay is also observed for the first time as a partially reconstructed component in the D+D−Λ invariant mass spectrum.
Modification of $\chi_{c1}(3872)$ and $\psi(\rm 2S)$ production in $p$Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}} = 8.16$ TeV

The LHCb Collaboration measures production of the exotic hadron 𝜒𝑐1(3872) in proton-nucleus collisions for the first time. Comparison with the charmonium state 𝜓(2𝑆) suggests that the exotic 𝜒𝑐1(3872) experiences different dynamics in the nuclear medium than conventional hadrons, and comparison with data from proton-proton collisions indicates that the presence of the nucleus may modify 𝜒𝑐1(3872) production rates. This is the first measurement of the nuclear modification factor of an exotic hadron.
Measurement of the branching fraction of B0 → J/ψπ0 decays

The ratio of branching fractions between B0 → J/ψπ0 and B+ → J/ψK*+ decays is measured with proton-proton collision data collected by the LHCb experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb−1. The measured value is BB0→J/ψπ0BB+→J/ψK∗+=(1.153±0.053±0.048)×10−2, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. The branching fraction for B0 → J/ψπ0 decays is determined using the branching fraction of the normalisation channel, resulting in BB0→J/ψπ0=(1.670±0.077±0.069±0.095)×10−5, where the last uncertainty corresponds to that of the external input. This result is consistent with the current world average value and competitive with the most precise single measurement to date.
Observation of the $B_c^+ \to J/\psi \pi^+ \pi^0$ decay

The first observation of the Bc+→J/ψπ+π0 decay is reported with high significance using proton-proton collision data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb−1, collected with the LHCb detector at centre-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13 TeV. The ratio of its branching fraction relative to the Bc+→J/ψπ+ channel is measured to be BBc+→J/ψπ+π0BBc+→J/ψπ+=2.80±0.15±0.11±0.16, where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second systematic and the third related to imprecise knowledge of the branching fractions for B+ → J/ψK*+ and Bc+→J/ψπ+ decays, which are used to determine the π0 detection efficiency. The π+π0 mass spectrum is found to be consistent with the dominance of an intermediate ρ+ contribution in accordance with a model based on QCD factorisation.
Measurements of the branching fraction ratio B(ϕ→μ+μ−)/B(ϕ→e+e−) with charm meson decays

Measurements of the branching fraction ratio B(ϕ→μ+μ−)/B(ϕ→e+e−) with Ds+→π+ϕ and D+ → π+ϕ decays, denoted Rϕπs and Rϕπd, are presented. The analysis is performed using a dataset corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.4 fb−1 of pp collision data collected with the LHCb experiment. The branching fractions are normalised with respect to the B+ → K+J/ψ(→ e+e−) and B+ → K+J/ψ(→ μ+μ−) decay modes. The combination of the results yields Rϕπ=1.022±0.012(stat)±0.048(syst). The result is compatible with previous measurements of the ϕ → ℓ+ℓ− branching fractions and predictions based on the Standard Model.
Study of CP-violation in $B^0_{(s)}\to D K^{*}(892)^0$ decays with $D\to K\pi (\pi\pi)$, $\pi\pi(\pi\pi)$, and $KK$ final states

A measurement of CP-violating observables associated with the interference of B0 → D0K⋆(892)0 and B0→D¯0K⋆(892)0 decay amplitudes is performed in the D0 → K∓π±(π+π−), D0 → π+π−(π+π−), and D0 → K+K− final states using data collected by the LHCb experiment corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb−1. CP-violating observables related to the interference of Bs0→D0K¯⋆(892)0 and Bs0→D¯0K¯⋆(892)0 are also measured, but no evidence for interference is found. The B0 observables are used to constrain the parameter space of the CKM angle γ and the hadronic parameters rB0DK⋆ and δB0DK⋆ with inputs from other measurements. In a combined analysis, these measurements allow for four solutions in the parameter space, only one of which is consistent with the world average.
Prompt and nonprompt $\psi(2S)$ production in $p$Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}} = 8.16$ TeV

The production of ψ(2S) mesons in proton-lead collisions at a centre-of-mass energy per nucleon pair of sNN = 8.16 TeV is studied with the LHCb detector using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 34 nb−1. The prompt and nonprompt ψ(2S) production cross-sections and the ratio of the ψ(2S) to J/ψ cross-section are measured as a function of the meson transverse momentum and rapidity in the nucleon-nucleon centre-of-mass frame, together with forward-to-backward ratios and nuclear modification factors. The production of prompt ψ(2S) is observed to be more suppressed compared to pp collisions than the prompt J/ψ production, while the nonprompt productions have similar suppression factors.
