Observation of the 𝐵0𝑠 → D*±D∓ decay

A search for the Bs0 → D*±D∓ decay is performed using proton-proton collision data at centre-of-mass energies of 7, 8 and 13 TeV collected by the LHCb experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb−1. The decay is observed with a high significance and its branching fraction relative to the B0 → D*±D∓ decay is measured to be B(Bs0→D∗±D∓)/(B0→D∗±D∓)=0.137±0.017±0.002±0.006, where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second systematic and the third is due to the uncertainty on the ratio of the Bs0 and B0 hadronisation fractions.
Evidence of a J/ψΛ structure and observation of excited Ξ− states in the Ξ−b→J/ψΛK− decay

First evidence of a structure in the J/ψΛ invariant mass distribution is obtained from an amplitude analysis of Ξb-→J/ψΛK- decays. The observed structure is consistent with being due to a charmonium pentaquark with strangeness with a significance of 3.1σ including systematic uncertainties and look-elsewhere effect. Its mass and width are determined to be 4458.8±2.9-1.1+4.7MeV and 17.3±6.5-5.7+8.0MeV, respectively, where the quoted uncertainties are statistical and systematic. The structure is also consistent with being due to two resonances. In addition, the narrow excited Ξ- states, Ξ1690- and Ξ1820-, are seen for the first time in a Ξb- decay, and their masses and widths are measured with improved precision. The analysis is performed using pp collision data corresponding to a total integrated luminosity of 9 fb-1, collected with the LHCb experiment at centre-of-mass energies of 7, 8 and 13 TeV.
Measurement of CP observables in B±→D(∗)K± and B±→D(∗)π± decays using two-body D final states

Measurements of CP observables in B± → D(*)K± and B± → D(*)π± decays are presented, where D(∗) indicates a neutral D or D∗ meson that is an admixture of meson and anti-meson states. Decays of the D(∗) meson to the Dπ0 and Dγ final states are partially reconstructed without inclusion of the neutral pion or photon. Decays of the D meson are reconstructed in the K±π∓, K+K−, and π+π− final states. The analysis uses a sample of charged B mesons produced in proton-proton collisions and collected with the LHCb experiment, corresponding to integrated luminosities of 2.0, 1.0, and 5.7 fb−1 taken at centre-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13 TeV, respectively. The measurements of partially reconstructed B± → D(*)K± and B± → D(∗)π± with D → K∓π± decays are the first of their kind, and a first observation of the B± → (Dπ0)D∗π± decay is made with a significance of 6.1 standard deviations. All CP observables are measured with world-best precision, and in combination with other LHCb results will provide strong constraints on the CKM angle γ.
Observation of CP violation in two-body B0(s)-meson decays to charged pions and kaons

The time-dependent CP asymmetries of B0 → π+π− and B0s → K+K− decays are measured using a data sample of pp collisions corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.9 fb−1, collected with the LHCb detector at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. The results are Cππ=−0.311±0.045±0.015, Sππ=−0.706±0.042±0.013, CKK=0.123±0.034±0.015, SKK=0.164±0.034±0.014, AΔΓKK=−0.83±0.05±0.09, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. The same data sample is used to measure the time-integrated CP asymmetries of B0 → K + π− and B0s → K−π+ decays and the results are AB0CP=−0.0824±0.0033±0.0033, AB0sCP=0.236±0.013±0.011. All results are consistent with earlier measurements. A combination of LHCb measurements provides the first observation of time-dependent CP violation in B0s decays.
Observation of the decay Λ0b → χc1pπ−

The Cabibbo-suppressed decay Λ0b → χc1pπ− is observed for the first time us- ing data from proton-proton collisions corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 6 fb−1, collected with the LHCb detector at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. Evidence for the Λ0b → χc2pπ− decay is also found. Using the Λ0b → χc1pK− decay as normalisation channel, the ratios of branching fractions are measured to be... where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second is systematic and the third is due to the uncertainties in the branching fractions of χc1,2 → J/ψγ decays.
Observation of New Resonances Decaying to J=ψK+ and J=ψφ

The first observation of exotic states with a new quark content cc ̄us ̄ decaying to the J=ψKþ final state is reported with high significance from an amplitude analysis of the Bþ → J=ψφKþ decay. The analysis is carried out using proton-proton collision data corresponding to a total integrated luminosity of 9 fb−1 collected by the LHCb experiment at center-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13 TeV. The most significant state, Z ð4000Þþ, has a mass of 4003 6þ4 MeV, a width of 131 15 26 MeV, and spin parity cs −14 JP 1⁄4 1þ, where the quoted uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. A new 1þ Xð4685Þ state decaying to the J=ψφ final state is also observed with high significance. In addition, the four previously reported J=ψφ states are confirmed and two more exotic states, Zcsð4220Þþ and Xð4630Þ, are observed with significance exceeding 5 standard deviations.
Search for long-lived particles decaying to e±μ∓ν

Long-lived particles decaying to e±μ∓νe±μ∓ν, with masses between 7 and 5050 GeV/c22 and lifetimes between 2 and 5050 ps, are searched for by looking at displaced vertices containing electrons and muons of opposite charges. The search is performed using 5.45.4 fb−1−1 of pppp collisions collected with the LHCb detector at a centre-of-mass energy of s√=13s=13 TeV. Three mechanisms of production of long-lived particles are considered: the direct pair production from quark interactions, the pair production from the decay of a Standard-Model-like Higgs boson with a mass of 125125 GeV/c22, and the charged current production from an on-shell WW boson with an additional lepton. No evidence of these long-lived states is obtained and upper limits on the production cross-section times branching fraction are set on the different production modes.
Search for the rare decay B0→J/ψϕ

A search for the rare decay B0 → J/ψφ is performed using pp collision data collected with the LHCb detector at centre-of-mass energies of 7, 8 and 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb−1. No significant signal of the decay is observed and an upper limit of 1.1 × 10−7 at 90% confidence level is set on the branching fraction.
Observation of the Λ0b→Λ+cK+K−π− decay

The Λ0b→Λ+cK+K−π−Λb0→Λc+K+K−π− decay is observed for the first time using a data sample of proton-proton collisions at centre-of-mass energies of s√=7s=7 and 8 TeVTeV collected by the LHCbLHCb detector, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3fb−13fb−1. The ratio of branching fractions between the Λ0b→Λ+cK+K−π−Λb0→Λc+K+K−π− and the Λ0b→Λ+cD−sΛb0→Λc+Ds− decays is measured to be B(Λ0b→Λ+cK+K−π−)B(Λ0b→Λ+cD−s)=(9.26±0.29±0.46±0.26)×10−2,B(Λb0→Λc+K+K−π−)B(Λb0→Λc+Ds−)=(9.26±0.29±0.46±0.26)×10−2, where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second systematic and the third is due to the knowledge of the D−s→K+K−π−Ds−→K+K−π− branching fraction. No structure on the invariant mass distribution of the Λ+cK+Λc+K+ system is found, consistent with no open-charm pentaquark signature.
Measurement of the CKM angle γ and B0s−B0s¯¯¯¯¯¯ mixing frequency with B0s→D∓sh±π±π∓ decays

The CKM angle γγ is measured for the first time from mixing-induced CPCP violation between B0s→D∓sK±π±π∓Bs0→Ds∓K±π±π∓ and B¯0s→D±sK∓π∓π±B¯s0→Ds±K∓π∓π± decays reconstructed in proton-proton collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb−1fb−1 recorded with the LHCb detector. A time-dependent amplitude analysis is performed to extract the CPCP-violating weak phase γ−2βsγ−2βs and, subsequently, γγ by taking the B0sBs0-B¯0sB¯s0 mixing phase βsβs as an external input. The measurement yields γ=(44±12)∘γ=(44±12)∘ modulo 180∘180∘, where statistical and systematic uncertainties are combined. An alternative model-independent measurement, integrating over the five-dimensional phase space of the decay, yields γ=(44+20−13)∘γ=(44−13+20)∘ modulo 180∘180∘. Moreover, the B0sBs0-B¯0sB¯s0 oscillation frequency is measured from the flavour-specific control channel B0s→D−sπ+π+π−Bs0→Ds−π+π+π− to be Δms=(17.757±0.007(stat.)±0.008(syst.))ps−1Δms=(17.757±0.007(stat.)±0.008(syst.))ps−1, consistent with and more precise than the current world-average value.
